LA Dodgers Themed Chocolate Strawberries: Game Day Treats for Oxnard's 805 Fans
Dodger Blue Runs Deep in the 805
If you live in Oxnard or anywhere in Ventura County, you already know — Dodger pride is a way of life out here. From the watch parties along Channel Islands Boulevard to the cheering you can hear echoing across the strawberry fields on a warm summer night, the 805 bleeds blue. Growing up in this community, some of my favorite memories involve gathering with family and friends around the TV, the smell of carne asada on the grill, and everyone holding their breath during those nail-biting ninth innings.
And what better way to celebrate our boys in blue than with a batch of gorgeous LA Dodgers themed chocolate-covered strawberries? These beauties combine two things our region does best: growing the most incredible strawberries in the country and showing up for our team with serious style. If you're new to making chocolate-covered strawberries, you might want to check out our guide to classic chocolate-covered strawberries first to master the basics.
Here at Jazzy Sweet Treats, these are one of our most popular orders every baseball season. Whether it's opening day, a crucial playoff game, or the World Series, our phone starts ringing off the hook. Today, I'm sharing exactly how you can make them at home so your next game day spread is an absolute showstopper.

- White nonpareil sprinkles
- Blue nonpareil sprinkles
- Edible gold luster dust (optional for that extra glam)

Tools
- Parchment-lined baking sheet
- Microwave-safe bowls
- Toothpicks or food-safe tweezers

Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Prep Your Strawberries
Wash and thoroughly dry your strawberries. I cannot stress this enough — this is the most important step in the entire process. Any moisture will cause your chocolate to seize up and turn grainy, and there's no coming back from that disaster. Pat them dry with paper towels and let them sit on a clean, dry surface for at least 20 minutes.
If you picked these beauties up from a stand near the fields off Pleasant Valley Road, they might be extra juicy (the best kind!), so give them a little extra drying time. I usually prep mine while watching the pre-game coverage — by the time the national anthem plays, they're perfectly ready.
Step 2: Melt Your Chocolate
Melt your white chocolate wafers in 30-second intervals in the microwave, stirring between each round. Patience is key here — overheated chocolate will become thick and unworkable. You want it smooth and flowing, like silk. Once smooth, divide into two bowls. Add royal blue candy coloring to one bowl and stir until you get that perfect Dodger Blue. Leave the other bowl white.
Pro tip: Oil-based candy coloring is essential. Water-based food coloring will ruin your chocolate faster than a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the ninth. For more advanced techniques on creating beautiful patterns, see our chocolate drizzle techniques guide.
Step 3: Dip in Blue
Hold each strawberry by the stem and dip it into the blue chocolate, letting the excess drip off. Give it a gentle shake and a small twist to create a smooth, even coating. Place on your parchment-lined baking sheet. Work quickly — the chocolate sets fast, especially if your kitchen has that cool ocean breeze flowing through from the Oxnard shores.
Step 4: Add the Details
While the blue chocolate is still slightly tacky, sprinkle some white nonpareils on select berries. For others, let them set completely, then use a piping bag filled with white chocolate to drizzle clean lines across the tops. You can also pipe a small "LA" logo or baseball stitch patterns if you're feeling artistic. Don't worry if your first few attempts aren't perfect — practice makes progress, and honestly, they all taste amazing regardless of how pretty they look.
Step 5: Create Contrast Berries
Dip a few strawberries in plain white chocolate for variety. Once set, drizzle with the blue chocolate. Mix in a few dipped in milk chocolate with blue and white drizzle for a beautiful assortment. The variety isn't just visually stunning — it gives your guests options and makes your platter look professionally done.
Step 6: Finishing Touches
Dust a few berries lightly with edible gold luster for that championship shimmer — because our Dodgers know what it feels like to bring home the gold! Use a soft, dry brush to apply the luster dust gently over the chocolate surface. Arrange them on a platter or in a gift box, and you're ready for the first pitch.
Tips from Our Oxnard Kitchen
Use local strawberries whenever possible. Ventura County grows some of the sweetest, most beautiful berries in all of California. The difference in flavor and size compared to grocery store imports is night and day. Hit up the Oxnard farmers market on Thursday mornings or any of the roadside stands along the 101 corridor. When you bite into a fresh local berry dipped in quality chocolate, you'll understand why we take so much pride in what we grow here.
Make them the day of your event. Chocolate-covered strawberries are best enjoyed within 24 hours. Store them in the refrigerator if needed, but bring them to room temperature about 15 minutes before serving for the best texture and flavor.
Get the whole family involved. Some of my happiest moments in the kitchen have been dipping berries with my kids while we talk about the game. Let the little ones handle the sprinkles while you manage the dipping — it's a win-win.
These Dodger berries make incredible gifts for the baseball fan in your life, and they're always a hit at watch parties across the 805. Picture yourself walking into your friend's house in Port Hueneme or Camarillo with a gorgeous box of these — you'll instantly be the MVP of the party.
If you'd rather leave it to the pros, you can always order a custom box from Jazzy Sweet Treats — we deliver throughout Oxnard and Ventura County! Whether you need a dozen for a small gathering or several boxes for a big celebration, we've got you covered. Let's go Dodgers!
